Cascade Donates Goods to Non-Profit Relief Efforts

casc_pri_rgbOver the course of 2016, Cascade had the opportunity to donate over three pallets of goods to organizations all over the world.  The pallets contained a variety of items like prosthetics, componentry, orthotics, fabrication goods, materials, and miscellaneous items.

It was extremely rewarding for Cascade to contribute to efforts that helped restore the lives of those less fortunate.  We would like to recognize the mission and vision of each of these great organizations.  Take a peek at these awesome organizations below:

Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute-MOI is located in Tanzania and pride themselves as the leading institution in Orthopaedics, neurosurgery, trauma management, and research training in Eastern and Central Africa.  Their mission is to provide equitable, affordable, accessible quality services, training and research in orthopaedics, neurosurgery and traumatology by using efficient and effective hospital management.  This is offered though public and private financing practices driven by modern technology and personnel who are trained, highly skilled, and motivated.

Cascade partnered with Alex Hetherington from UCSF to donate gear to the clinicians and surgeons at the the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute.

2ft Prosthetics started out as a group of students from Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University wanting to use their technical skills to help others around the world. Their mission is to provide quality, affordable, and easy-to manufacture prosthetic legs to give amputees in developing countries a chance to live their lives again, to take pride in enjoying the fruits of their own labor, and to stand with hope. Through their work since starting as a BYU club in 2008, they have given back the ability to walk to a significant number of people in Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Tonga, Costa Rica and Micronesia. In 2010, 2ft filed a patent application for the PVC prosthetic leg design. This prosthetic can be created for around $25.00. The skills required to manufacture and fit this PVC leg are simple and can be taught to local citizens. The design can be easily customized according to the amputee’s need. Cascade worked with Dave Williams at 2ft Prosthetics to provide them with prosthetic goods like liners and feet for their trip to the Dominican Republic in Fall 2016.
